HC Deb 10 November 1988 vol 140 cc287-8W
Mr. Kirkwood

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will place a copy of the following reports in the Library(a) Nursing in London Study, (b) Regional Health Authority Leavers Survey 1 July to 30 September 1987, (c) Nursing Career Development Project Report, (d) Nursing Retention and Recruitment by Price Waterhouse and (e) the Wastage Rates in Nurse Training Report.

Mr. Mellor

[pursuant to the reply 29 July 1988, c. 783]: We are now able to let the hon. Member know that we have placed in the Library copies of the reports of:

  1. (i) The nurses recruitment and retention survey undertaken by Price Waterhouse for RHA chairmen;
  2. (ii) "Lasting the Course"—a study of training success and wastage undertaken by Rosemary Hutt for the Department; and
  3. (iii) "The Way Ahead"—Carer Pathways for Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors". The report of the nursing carer development project group.

Copies of the report of the review of nursing services in London have already been placed in the Library.

The survey of leavers between 1 July and 30 September 1987 was commissioned from the regional health authority chairmen by the review body for nursing staff, midwives, health visitors and professions allied to medicine. I understand that the results of this survey have not yet been received by the review body. When these results have been received, it will be for the review body to decide to what extent they will be made public.
