§ Mr. NichollsWe expect to appoint a number of new members to the industrial tribunals in October 1989. In preparation for this exercise my officials have already held discussions with the major sponsoring bodies, drawing attention to the Government's concern to increase the proportion of industrial tribunal members from the ethnic minorities. We shall stress this point strongly when we write formally to the sponsoring bodies seeking the names of candidates suitable for appointment.
