To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on an incident which occurred at the Aldermaston atomic weapons research establishment on Tuesday 8 November at 7.10 am involving evacuation from a building; and if any radiation leak was involved.

I can confirm that an automatic alarm system triggered falsely at the atomic weapons establishment at Aldermaston on Tuesday 8 November. The work force's entry to the area was delayed until it was clear that it was safe. This was the same alarm that triggered falsely on Friday 28 October. On neither occasion was there any leak of radiation.
