§ Mr. Ryder[holding answer 8 November 1988]: The following figures show the amounts of apples withdrawn under the EC intervention arrangements which were either converted to animal feed or industrial alcohol or which found no other destination and were therefore wasted; and the cost of these withdrawal operations to Community funds; for the last five years for which these are available:

§ Mr. Ryder[holding answer 8 November 1988] The most recent available figure for Community stocks of apples is for 1 February 1988 when the figure was 2.4 million tonnes. Figures for the new Community crop are not normally available until later in the year.
