HC Deb 10 November 1988 vol 140 c306W
15. Mr. Andrew Hunter

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a further statement on his assessment of the working of the Anglo-Irish Agreement.

Mr. Tom King

We shall be assessing the working of the Intergovernmental Conference in the course of the review under article 11 of the Agreement. Generally, I believe that the Agreement can bring considerable benefit to all law-abiding people in Northern Ireland.

25. Mr. Flannery

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement on the purpose of the review of the Anglo-Irish Agreement.

Mr. Tom King

Article 11 of the Agreement makes clear that the purpose of the review of the working of the Intergovernmental Conference is to see whether arty changes in the scope or nature of its activities are desirable.

Mr. Lewis

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when he expects the review of the Anglo-Irish agreement to have been completed.

Mr. Tom King

As the two Governments announced in the statement issued after the meeting of the Intergovernmental Conference on 2 November, we expect the review of the working of the conference to be completed in the early part of 1989.
