§ Mr. Butcher[holding answer 3 November 1988]: Information on pre-school places is not collected centrally. The number of pupils under five in maintained nursery and primary schools per 1,000 of the estimated three and four-year-old population in each local education authority in England in January 1988 is given in the table. The political grouping is the same as that given in the reply of my hon. Friend the Member for Dartford (Mr. Dunn) on 8 July 1986 at columns 149–52.
