HC Deb 09 November 1988 vol 140 cc232-3W
47. Mr. Bill Walker

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give details of the latest crime figures for Tayside.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

In the first eight months of 1988 43,459 crimes and offences were recorded in Tayside, compared with 43,527 in the same period of 1987. This is a decrease of 0.2 per cent. Further details are given in the table.

private and public sector tenants should be comparable so far as possible given their different circumstances. This will be achieved for the future by part II of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1988, which will revitalise the private rented sector and will, for example, give the private tenant a right to a writen statement of the terms of the tenancy and a right of protection against harassment, arbitrary eviction, and the exaction of key money. A booklet explaining these and other tenants' rights will be widely available.
