§ Mr. Donald ThompsonThe reintroduction of a decommissioning scheme was one of several ideas recently put forward by fishing industry organisations in response to our consultation paper on possible measures to contain capacity. Officials will be having discussions with the industry organisations about this and other ideas, but I would not favour such a scheme unless I was satisfied that it would achieve proper value for the public money involved.
