HC Deb 08 November 1988 vol 140 cc136-7W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what information is held or processed by the VME computers at his Department's Bureau West at Devizes; if any of this information is subject to security classifications; and if any security measures are taken to prevent unauthorised access to the system while it is left unattended.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

Bureau West provides computer support to a large number of areas within MoD. As a result, the bureau holds a great diversity of information, both classified and unclassified, in its computer systems. It would be neither practicable nor in the interests of security to list it. Security measures are taken to prevent unauthorised access to these systems both while they are attended and while they are unattended.
