§ Mr. ButcherOur teacher recruitment campaign continues to focus on the areas where shortages are most marked, including London and the south-east. The programme includes advertising, conferences and exhibitions designed to promote the attractions of teaching and improve recruitment to initial teacher training. Officials of my Department and the teaching as a career unit continue to be in close contact with the LEAs and institutions involved in teacher recruitment and training in Greater London.
