§ Mr. Kenneth Baker"Action on Teacher Supply in Mathematics, Physics and Technology", issued in July 1986, analysed the position in those subjects in some detail. A copy is in the Library. On more recent data, I have arranged for tables showing primary and secondary vacant posts analysed by region and by subject, as at January 1988, to be placed in the Library. Further data including tables drawn from the 1987 primary school staffing survey, and on the current match between teachers' qualifications and what they teach drawn from the results of the 1988 secondary school staffing survey, will be available in due course.
