§ Mr. ButcherSafety standards are primarily the responsibility of the local education authority concerned. My Department has sought information from authorities 125W about safety in school playgrounds; it is not yet clear whether guidance on achieving higher standards of safety is required. The situation is under review in consultation with the Health and Safety Executive.
