HC Deb 08 November 1988 vol 140 cc146-7W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many(a) homes and (b) other buildings in London still have water supplied through lead pipes.

Mr. Moynihan

This information is not available. However, approximately 1.8 million of the homes in the Greater London area were constructed before 1945 and would therefore have contained lead pipes. A good number of these pipes will have been replaced by now.
