To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what are the proposals under consideration for the destruction or disposal of fruit and vegetables by the European Community; and what quantity of each fruit or vegetable is affected.

I know of no new proposals under consideration for the destruction or disposal of fruit and vegetables by the European Community. Under the current intervention system, the provisional figures for quantities withdrawn from the market in 1987–88 are as follows:
