HC Deb 07 November 1988 vol 140 c89W
Dr. David Clark

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if any otters have been discovered suffering from the canine distemper virus currently prevalent in seals around the coasts of Britain.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

The virus affecting seals around parts of the coasts of the United Kingdom has only been identified provisionally as being of the Morbilli family, which includes rinderpest and canine distemper virus. We are not aware of any reports that otters have been found suffering from this disease.
