HC Deb 07 November 1988 vol 140 c6W
Mr. Matthew Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has received concerning the provision of development assistance to Kampuchea.

Mr. Chris Patten

We have received numerous inquiries from hon. Members, voluntary agencies and members of the public about aid to Cambodia. I set out our policy on this issue in reply to the hon. Member for Monklands, West (Mr. Clarke) on 28 July, at column 697. As I said then, we are contributing £100,000 to the Food and Agriculture Organisation/World Food Programme appeal for Cambodia. Last month I announced an additional allocation of £500,000 to support projects, including humanitarian projects in Cambodia, proposed by British voluntary agencies for assistance under the joint funding scheme.
