HC Deb 07 November 1988 vol 140 cc3-4W
Mr. Mullin

To ask the Attorney-General if there are to be any prosecutions arising from the recent police investigations into allegations of fraud among senior British Rail management in London and Scotland in relation to privatised contracts; and if he will make a statement.

The Attorney-General

In consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service fraud investigation group, officers of the British Transport police are inquiring into certain allegations of crime involving British Rail in England and Wales. The inquiries are at an early stage and no prosecution decision can be taken until they are complete. The prosecution of offences in Scotland is a matter for my Noble and learned Friend the Lord Advocate.
