HC Deb 04 November 1988 vol 139 c782W
Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will now make it policy to ensure that all waste paper removed from the Palace of Westminster is used for recycling purposes; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Chope

[holding answer 3 November 1988]: Waste paper is collected from the Palace of Westminster under a contract arranged by the Property Services Agency. Although the contract does not specify that the paper should be recycled, I understand that the contractor disposes of it in that way.
