HC Deb 04 November 1988 vol 139 c801W
Mr. Evennett

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has any plans to introduce legislation to vary the age limit for jurors; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Patten

Section 119 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 increases from 65 to 70 the maximum age at which a person may qualify for jury service. I do not rule out a further increase in due course. I have no present plans to increase the minimum age from 18.
