HC Deb 03 November 1988 vol 139 c749W
Ms. Harman

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, in the latest year for which figures are available, how many women attended(a) their general practitioner and (b) a family planning clinic for family planning advice.

Mrs. Currie

In 1986 in England 1,406,200 women were seen at health authority family planning clinics and an estimated 2,571,000 women received contraceptive services from general medical practitioners. The latter figure includes women accepted for contraceptive services by a general practitioner other than their own.
