HL Deb 03 November 1988 vol 501 c467WA
Lord Chelwood

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will list the items of community legislation with significant impact on British law, specifying any which they regard as over-bureaucratic or socialist in character, and whether failure to veto such legislation since 1973 has been due to their obligations under the Luxembourg Agreement or for other specified reasons.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Lord Glenarthur)

All community legislation is listed in the six-monthly White Papers on developments in the European Community. We would oppose proposals for new legislation which we regarded as over-bureaucratic or in any other respect undesirable.
