HC Deb 02 November 1988 vol 139 cc690-1W
Sir Eldon Griffiths

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how much rainwater has seeped into the working areas of the Property Services Agency's block B at Cambridge during recent months; to what extent this puts computer equipment at risk; whether he is satisfied with the conditions under which staff are working in this building; and if he will take steps to remedy these and other problems by allowing the private sector to redevelop the entire site and by redeploying at least some part of its staff to the Property Services Agency's accommodation in Newmarket.

Mr. Chope

This building has recently suffered some relatively minor water penetration caused by blocked gutters. No computer equipment has been damaged. Working conditions for staff remain satisfactory, but I will continue to keep the long-term use of the site under review including options involving partial or total redevelopment.
