Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list which private companies have been employed by his Department to provide security guarding services since 1983; and which military establishments are normally guarded in this way.

The list of private companies which have been employed by the Department since 1983 to provide security guarding services is as follows:

  • Airwork Ltd.
  • Burns International Security Services (UK) Ltd.
  • Care Security Services Ltd.
  • Centuryan Security Ltd.
  • Custodian Security Guards Ltd.
  • Medway (Chatham) Dock Co. Ltd.
  • Pritchard Security Services Ltd.
  • Reliance Security Services Ltd.
  • Royal British Legion Attendants Co. Ltd.
  • Securiguard Services Ltd.
  • Securicor Ltd.
  • Serco Ltd.
  • Thorn EMI Electronics Ltd.
  • UK Security Ltd.

Security guards from these companies are employed at 18 military establishments. It would prejudice the security of these establishments to reveal their locations.
