HC Deb 02 November 1988 vol 139 cc676-7W
22. Mr. Turner

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps he is taking to guarantee that tenants of local authorities attempting to transfer their housing stock to another owner will receive full details of financial and other implications of the transaction.

Mr. Trippier

It is the responsibility of the local authority, as part of its statutory duties under schedule 3A to the Housing Act 1985, to ensure that the tenant is properly informed about the likely consequences of any proposed transfer.

32. Ms. Armstrong

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what is his most recent estimate of the cost of renovation and repairs for local authority housing stock in England and Wales.

Mr. Trippier

It is hoped that the 1986 English house condition survey will be published later this month. This will provide up-to-date information on the extent of disrepair in council properties in England.

Similar data for Wales are provided by the Welsh house condition survey, which was published on 9 May.
