HC Deb 02 November 1988 vol 139 cc644-5W
Ms. Ruddock

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security (1) what discussions he has had with union representatives regarding outstationing work on processing claims to new social security offices outside London;

(2) if he will make a statement on the implications of outstationing work on processing claims for the future of the Lewisham inner London office and the Greenwich park inner London office.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

We are making detailed plans to implement the proposal, made in the "Business of Service" report published in June 1988, that work not requiring face-to-face contact with the public should be relocated from some hard-presed London offices. Officials have fully consulted trade union side representatives at all stages. We hope to be making an announcement setting out our plans in the reasonably near future.
