HC Deb 02 November 1988 vol 139 c643W
Mr. Harry Barnes

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security whether he has plans to extend the amounts of income that are disregarded for the calculation of housing benefit purposes in connection with war disablement and war widows' pensions.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

No. War disablement and war widow's pensions already receive special treatment with a statutory disregard of £5 per week in all the income-related benefits. For housing benefit local authorities have the same discretion now as they had under the old scheme to disregard further amounts of these pensions.
