Mr. Mallon

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland in how many cases attendance allowance at(a) the higher rate and (b) the lower rate has been withdrawn in Northern Ireland since 1 January 1987; and if he will provide a breakdown of the reasons for which such allowances have been withdrawn.

These allowances were withdrawn because it was decided by the attendance allowance board or one of its delegated medical officers that the medical conditions were no longer satisfied.
