Mr. McNamara

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when the inquiry by the Northern Ireland Police Authority arising out of the Stalker-Sampson reports will be completed.

[holding answer 25 May 1988]: It is not possible to give an exact date but I understand that the Police Authority is giving the matter urgent consideration and will reach a decision as soon as possible.

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) on what date Mr. Charles Kelly submitted his initial report on the Royal Ulster Constabulary on matters relating to the Stalker-Sampson inquiry;

(2) on what ground Mr. Charles Kelly has been asked to reconsider details of his initial report on the Royal Ulster Constabulary relating to the Stalker-Sampson report;

(3) what disciplinary charges will be brought as a result of the initial report on the Royal Ulster Constabulary by Mr. Charles Kelly relating to the Stalker-Sampson inquiry;

(4) what further matters Mr. Charles Kelly was asked to investigate following the completion of his initial report on the Royal Ulster Constabulary.

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when he expects the inquiry by Mr. Charles Kelly into the Royal Ulster Constabulary and the Stalker-Sampson inquiry to be completed.
