§ Mr. Michael SpicerThe Government have established a wide range of measures aimed at providing employment opportunities in areas hit by closure. These include the enterprise initiative of the Department of Trade and Industry, the programmes of the Manpower Services Commission, the activities of British Coal Enterprise Ltd., the advisory and counselling services of the small firms service, and the encouragement of local enterprise agencies.
