Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment, pursuant to the reply of 15 February,Official Report, column 471, if he will list those member states of the EEC which have some form of statutory provision relating to parental leave, and which do not.

Mr. Nicholls

My current information is that all member states have some form of statutory provision with the exception of Ireland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment, pursuant to the reply of 15 February,Official Report, column 471, what information he has on the fundamental variations in the range and scope of provisions for parental leave in those member states of the European Community with statutory provision.
