The Department's local offices at Johnstone, Paisley and Port Glasgow serve the area covered by Renfrew district council and the local offices at Greenock and Port Glasgow serve the area covered by Inverclyde district council, but their boundaries are not conterminous.
The numbers of people claiming sickness benefit or invalidity pension at these local offices as at 30 April 1988, the latest date for which information is available, is as follows:
