HC Deb 27 May 1988 vol 134 c385W
Mr. Ieuan Wyn Jones

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will consider changing his policy in order to pay the full hill livestock support payments in areas considered marginal under European Community rules as well as in hill areas.

Mr. Gummer

The rates of hill livestock compensatory allowances payable in both the "severely disadvantaged" and marginal "disadvantaged" areas of the United Kingdom are set taking account of the severity of the permanent natural handicap. They will be examined later this year as part of the regular autumn review of the economic conditions in the hills and uplands.
