HC Deb 27 May 1988 vol 134 c389W
Mr. Ashley

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how often, and under what circumstances, money is deducted from pensions of wounded and discharged service personnel to pay for cars or other forms of transport provided to help them to overcome their disabilities.

Mr. Freeman

The Ministry of Defence does not provide cars on invaliding. No deductions are therefore necessary.

Mr. Ashley

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how often and under what circumstances, letters to wounded service, or ex-service personnel are addressed "Dear Sir/Madam"; and who is responsible for the drafting of such letters.

Mr. Freeman

Personal letters to wounded service, or ex-service, personnel are not addressed "Dear Sir/Madam" but in the case of standard routine correspondence conducted using pre-printed stationery this form of address may be used.
