HC Deb 27 May 1988 vol 134 c341W
Mr. Devlin

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will give details of any revised cash limits for his Department's Votes.

Mr. Kenneth Baker

Subject to parliamentary approval to the necessary supplementary estimate, cash limits for the following Votes will be revised as follows:

Vote Current cash limit Increase-decrease Revised cash limit
£ £ £
Class XII
Vote 1 463,655,000 16,366,000 480,021,000
Class XII
Vote 3 1,843,563,000(1) -53,000 1,843,510,000

Of these changes, £1,900,000 will be charged to the reserve and £14,436,000 is contained within the planned provision for programmes. There will therefore be no increase in the planned total of expenditure.

Additional provision is sought for Class XIII, Vote 1 as follows: Fifty three thousand pounds to enable the Cranfield institute of technology to participate in the programme for manufacturing systems engineering courses. This increase to be offset by a matching reduction in provision on Class XIII, Vote 3. Eleven million, four hundred and thirteen thousand pounds for costs associated with the establishment, subject to the passage of the Education Reform Bill, of the National Curriculum Council; the School Examination and Assessment Council; the Polytechnics and Colleges Funding Council and the Education Assets Board.
