§ Mr. Donald Thompson[holding answer 25 May 1988]: Precise figures are not available. Initial investigation indicates that about 4,500 dairy producers in Great Britain were contracted into the non-marketing of milk premium scheme during 1983. Some of these would have been able to resume milk production in time to qualify for consideration under the milk quota exceptional hardship or development award provisions.
