HC Deb 26 May 1988 vol 134 cc230-1W
Mr. Blair

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if he will publish in theOfficial Report a table, covering the period 1979–80 to 1988–89, showing the aggregate external financing limit for the electricity supply industry in England and Wales; the ex ante composition of this aggregate between the Central Electricity Generating Board, individiual area boards and the Electricity Council itself; and a comparable ex post composition.

Mr. Michael Spicer

The aggregate external financing limit (EFL) for the electricity supply industry in England and Wales is published in the annual public expenditure White Paper. The table shows (i) the initial forecast of the EFL taking no account of agreed revisions during the year and (ii) the outturn. The EFL is set for the industry as a whole; and the required contribution by individual boards is a matter for the industry. The actual contributions by boards are stated in their annual reports and accounts.
