HC Deb 26 May 1988 vol 134 c270W
Mr. Cryer

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services why a courier service is used between the Blackpool attendance allowance unit and his Department's Leeds offices; whether this leads to delays in correspondence; and if he will make a statement

Mr. Portillo

An internal courier service is used to link up all DHSS offices, including Blackpool and Leeds. This does not lead to delays in correspondence and, in fact, the reliability of next day delivery is generally at least as good as first-class post. It provides the Department with a method of transferring internal correspondence cost-effectively and efficiently between all offices.
