HC Deb 25 May 1988 vol 134 c166W
Mr. Watts

To ask the Prime Minister if she will make a statement about the chairmanship of the Top Salaries Review Body.

The Prime Minister

Lord Plowden has advised me that he will wish to retire as chairman of the Top Salaries Review Body after it has completed its next report in 1989. I shall accept his resignation with great regret and I wish to place on record the Government's gratitude for his outstanding service as a member of the Top Salaries Review Body since 1977, and as chairman for the last seven years.

I am glad to be able to announce that Sir David Nickson has agreed to take over the chairmanship from Lord Plowden and to serve as a member of the review body for its 1988–89 review.
