To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the decision of Fife health board to appoint Colonel Francis Gibb to the position of general manager of Fife health board; and if he will make a statement.

No. The appointment of a general manager is a matter for Fife health board.

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he or his officials have met the chairman of Fife health board to discuss the appointment of Colonel Francis Gibb to the post of general manager.

No. In the usual way the short list of candidates for the post was cleared in advance with my right hon. and learned Friend.

No. The costs incurred by Fife health board are a matter for the board.
