HC Deb 24 May 1988 vol 134 c150W
Mr. Steen

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will take into account the future requirement of operating British Aerospace 146 planes in and out of London City airport, when coming to a decision with regard to the east London river crossing; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Channon

Late representations were received at the inquiries into the east London river crossing on the possible future use of the British Aerospace 146 at London City airport. These objections were referred by the inspector without comment to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment and myself. We shall take these representations into account in considering the inspector's report of the inquiry. The use of BA146 aircraft would require a variation in the planning consent for the airport.

Mr. Steen

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he hopes to announce the decision of the inspector relating to the east London river crossing.

Mr. Channon

Soon.
