§ Mr. Lilley[holding answer 23 May 1988]: For 1985 the proportion of total shares, deposits and loans of building societies held by the largest three, largest six and largest 10 societies was 45, 62 and 77 per cent. respectively. For 1986 the figures were 46, 62 and 77 per cent. respectively.
