However, since the Government's broadleaves policy statement of July 1985, the Forestry Commission requires that all private planting schemes should contain at least 5 per cent. broadleaves, wherever it is practicable to do so.
The planting prescriptions in the cases referred to by my right hon. and learned Friend in his statement of 25 January 1988 allow, on average, for over 5 per cent. broadleaves. Most of these broadleaves will be of native species.
