§ Ms. RuddockTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many times section 14 of the Education Act 1944 has been used; and in what circumstances it is his policy to use section 14 of the Education Act 1944 instead of sections 12 and 13 of the Education (School Premises) Regulations 1981.
§ Mr. DunnThe Department does not keep a central record of the number of times section 14 has been used. It is for the governors of voluntary schools, rather than for the Secretary of State, to initiate any action under this section. Sections 12 and 13 of the Education (School Premises) Regulations 1981 have no bearing on the matter, since they are concerned only with school medical and staff accommodation.
