§ 42. Mr. CranTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will give urgent consideration to approving the request for a variation in the authorised establishment of Humberside police force.
§ Mr. Douglas HoggMr right hon. Friend was unable to give the Humberside police authority's application for 41 additional police posts priority over other applications in the allocation of the 450 additional posts available for 1988–89. The police authority has been informed that its application will be reconsidered when my right hon. Friend next takes decisions on the allocation of police manpower.
§ 50. Mr. ColvinTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has received about an increase in the police establishment of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight constabulary.
§ Mr. Douglas HoggWe have received representations from the Police Authority and from hon. Members whose constituencies lie within the force area. The police authority applied for 23 police posts in 1987–88. This bid has been met in full with effect from 1 June 1988. A further application for 47 posts has recently been received and this will be considered together with applications received from other police authorities when my right hon. Friend next takes decisions on the allocation of police manpower.
