HC Deb 19 May 1988 vol 133 c547W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make inquiries into the reason why Mr. Ronald Read and Mrs. Doris Patricia Read of 6 Montgomery Court, North Shoebury, Southend on Sea, who applied to Peterborough for passports on 17 March explaining that they were required by 9 May, have not received them; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Renton

A letter requesting £7.50 balance of fee failed to reach Mr. and Mrs. Read, who moved house on 12 May. The Peterborough passport office has since made contact with them by telephone and their passport will be issued immediately on receipt of the balance of fee, in time for their holiday in early June. Regrettably, the application was not given any priority when it was received on 25 March.
