HC Deb 19 May 1988 vol 133 cc529-30W
Mrs. Margaret Ewing

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what was the purpose of the proving flights undertaken in the Scottish Highlands in late February by a Gazelle helicopter from Royal Air Force, Shawbury.

Mr. Freeman

[holding answer 21 April 1988]: The Gazelle helicopter in question is currently on loan to RAF Odiham and was deployed during late February on low level reconnaissance flights in the Highlands to check for obstacles on flight paths to be used later by Hercules aircraft flying in the dark.
