§ Mr. Douglas HoggMy right hon. Friend has just approved 20 additional posts for Essex police. This brings to 90 the number of posts we have been able to approve so far in response to its application for 150 posts over the three years 1986–87 to 1988–89. The total number of posts approved since May 1979 is now 237. The remaining posts will be considered when my right hon. Friend next takes decisions on the allocation of police manpower.
