§ Mr. DunnMy right hon. Friend has received various communications about the reorganisation proposals published by Trafford local education authority on 21 January 1988. No formal notification that the authority has withdrawn the proposals has so far been received.
§ Mr. Tony LloydTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what steps he takes to ensure that he maintains impartiality in considering the merits of proposals by local education authorities to reorganise schools.
§ Mr. DunnMy right hon. Friend considers on their individual merits all reorganisation proposals which come before him for decision. In so doing he takes careful account both of the arguments put forward by local education authorities in support of their proposals and of the points made by any objectors to the proposals. The general criteria against which my right hon. Friend considers reorganisation proposals are set out in the Department's circular 3/87
