HC Deb 19 May 1988 vol 133 c546W
Mr. Hayward

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to the answer of 7 July 1987,Official Report, column 96, to the hon. Member for Hazel Grove (Mr. Arnold) what information he has as to whether the Boundary Commission still expects the general review to commence in 1990; and how far in advance of the statutory deadline the commission is aiming to report on the outcome of this review.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

Within the limits prescribed by the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, the timing of each commission's work is a matter for it to determine. I understand, however, that the Boundary Commission for England hopes to submit a report fairly early in the 1993–98 period allowed by the Act, and that the start of their review is likely to be announced early in 1991.
