§ 19. Mr. CranTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how much special waste is now imported into the United Kingdom; what consultations he has had with waste disposal authorities concerning the revision of the special waste regulations; and what plans he has to introduce new regulations.
§ Mr. MoynihanDuring 1986, 53,000 tonnes of special wastes were imported into the United Kingdom. Figures are not yet available for 1987. It is intended to issue a consultation paper to local authorities and other interested parties on a revision of the special waste regulations later this year. It is also intended that regulations to implement the EC directive on transfrontier shipment of hazardous waste will be laid before the summer recess.
